Default Discovery Health-Scary Stuff!

I shouldn't watch the shows on this channel so much. There are some seriously incompetent doctors out there to miss the correct diagnosis so many times, and fob people off with a simple diagnosis of infection and a script for antibiotics.

It makes me almost scared to ever have to see a doctor without already having self diagnosed

I know what you mean but just remember there are good doctors as well and television tends to focus on the bad. I watch several shows that I like such as "Code Blue" and "Trauma: Life in the ER" and I think they are both good and very realistic.

Default Good stuff and bad stuff

I like some of the shows on this station as they can be very informative at times. The ones that focus on malpractice and quacks can definitely be scary but it truly is a small percentage of the doctors out there. Let's face it, the show wouldn't be as interesting if it just said "Dr. So-and-so found the problem and corrected it" even though that is how it works in most real life cases.

I haven't watched the ones on medical mishaps.. it would freak me out too much! I have seen the ones on Real ER or somethings like that. Real trips to the ER with freaky, odd things. Like I saw one where a guy presented with a screwdriver in his ear and he didn't speak english (turned out he was trying to get rid of the voices)... and one where a girl had a fork down her throat in a botched bulimia attempt.

Those last two mentioned are fully scary scenes and it makes you wonder why these people are not in a shrink house 24/7. I have seen a couple of them but most were just car wrecks and the such.
