	I recall watching this movie at the Faculty. We had to write an essay on it. I don't recall what I posted on that essay (it's been 3 years ago), but I can still recall the shock I had when I saw the movie. It's "wrapped" up as a commedy and many people laughed at it. I was shocked to see how many things we have in that movie, a lot of things we dislike in the society and in our lives. I have seen... (more) I recall watching this movie at the Faculty. We had to write an essay on it. I don't recall what I posted on that essay (it's been 3 years ago), but I can still recall the shock I had when I saw the movie. It's "wrapped" up as a commedy and many people laughed at it. I was shocked to see how many things we have in that movie, a lot of things we dislike in the society and in our lives. I have seen the movie 5 times or more and I still love it. We have the dream American family: father, mother, nice home in the suburbs, daughter (normall there's another kid too) and we don't have a dog. Almost perfect in a way. They are all living a good life and being happy. Oh, yeah. The daughter is a teenager. She's fat and ugly (as she likes to see herself), the normal "messed up" kid if you allow me to say this: disgruntled, sad, unfit etc. We have the father: he's the main character and the voice. Kevin Spacey in one of the best roles in his entire life. 40sh, ..ssed off on the society, his job and everything. He is the one with the "epiphany", he is the one to understand he's leaving a sad life, a "dead's existence" in the end. He is pretty rich (not very rich, but they do have a good life, he's been working a lot, his wife is working a lot, they can afford a lot of things), he's done a lot in his life and still he misses the times they were young and reckless. When his wife, far from the lifeless business woman she's now, was full of life and ready to do crazy things. He misses the life of a simple person: loving, living, having fun. Making love without being scared of staining the thousands dollar counch, of being able to laugh and have fun without being in any "social chains". we have another family too: Colonel FITZ and his wife and kid. Instead of being mad at his parents (as Burnham's daughter is), the boy (also a teenager) doesn't react to his father brutallity and his mother's numbness. She doesn't exist in the house, she's just a shadow. Mr. Fitz is aggressive, neo-nazi, hates homosexuals etc. The movie ends in a pretty easy to forsee way, but there is a lot to be seen in it. "There's a lot of beauty in this world" and it does open our eyes a lot. To the beauties we fail to see, to the charm of simple things, to the blessings of a loving family. I won't spoil the movie for you, but I would like to recommend it to you. Don't watch it as an easy movie, it's not like that.Make sure you have the time and patience to see all the aspects. Make sure you see it again since it does show new things each time. (close)

Step Brothers movie review
