Set in 1978, a teenage girl overcomes the loss of her brother and fights the odds to achieve her dream of playing competitive soccer at a time when girls' soccer did not exist. Living in South Orange New Jersey, 15 year old Gracie Bowen is the only girl in a family of three brothers. Their family life revolves almost entirely around soccer: her father and brothers are obsessed with the sport, practicing in the backyard's makeshift field every day from morning 'til night.
Tragedy unexpectedly strikes when Gracie's older brother Johnny, star of the high school varsity soccer team and Gracie's only protector, is killed in a car accident. Struggling with grief over her family's loss, Gracie decides to fill the void left on her brother's team by petitioning the school board to allow her to play on the boy's high school varsity soccer team in his place.
Her father, a former soccer star himself, tries to prove to Gracie that she is not tough enough or talented enough to play with boys. Her mother, Lindsey Bowen, already an outsider in the sports-obsessed family, is no help either.
Undeterred, Gracie finds reserves of strength she never knew existed, and persists in changing everyone's beliefs in what she is capable of, including her own. Gracie not only forces her father to wake up from his grief and see her as the beautiful and strong person that she has always been but she also brings her family together in the face of their tragedy.

Tropic Thunder Movie Review
I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the movie, but about halfway through my interested started to drop. There were still a couple good moments in the second half, but not as many as I expected.

Pineapple Express Movie Review
I think ‘stoner’ comedies are funny. I’ve watched the Cheech and Chong movies numerous times (although I probably shouldn’t have seen them at the age I did), and I love Harold and Kumar…but would I love Dale and Saul, the stoner buddies of Pineapple Express? The answer is a resounding YES!

National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets
It would be pretty easy to be scathing about this movie if it weren't for the fact that I don't think it sets its ambitions that high in the first place. If you've watched the first installment of National Treasure you'll know that everyone involved is looking to make a film that tries nothing more than to be entertaining for a couple of hours.

We Own the Night Movie Review
We Own the Night is one of those solid police movies that tries to rely on straight forward story telling rather leaning on a multitude of action scenes. Unfortunately, the script doesn't really carry the weight of expectation as only Phoenix's character gets the chance to display any real complexity.

The Savages Movie Review
I like dark comedies. I love laughing at things that I probably shouldn’t be laughing at, but do anyway. So when I first saw previews for the movie The Savages, I felt that it was a movie right up my alley, and I was right. This movie is more family drama, but it does have some dark comedy thrown in at just the right moments to help lighten the drama.
