Few teams in America have dominated their sport as have the New York Yankees. Yankee stars have become part of our heritage and folklore, and New York Yankees: Heart of the Order, showcases the on and off the field lives of four of the greatest Yankees of all time: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle.
Babe Ruth is widely considered the greatest baseball player in history. He was the first player to hit 60 home runs in one season and his career 714 home runs was a record for 39 years.
Self-described as 'the luckiest man alive,' Lou Gehrig still holds the record for the most grand slams (23), played in 2,130 consecutive games and was named the greatest first baseman in baseball history by the Baseball Writers Association.
The only player in baseball history who was chosen to play in the All Star game in every season he played, Joe DiMaggio still-record 56 game hitting streak is one record that may never be broken, and has been memorialized in song including Simon & Garfunkel's 'Mrs. Robinson,' John Fogerty's 'Centerfield,' Billy Joel's 'We Didn't Start the Fire' and Madonna's 'Vogue.'.
Replacing DiMaggio in the Yankee lineup in 1952, Mickey Mantle won 3 American League MVP titles and played on 12 pennant winners and 7 World Championship clubs. He still holds the records for most World Series home runs (18), RBIs (40), runs (42), walks (43), extra-base hits (26), and total bases (123).
