His journey takes him to a mysterious and forbidden land beyond the walls of his village. On his odyssey, Tristan finds the star, which has transformed into a striking girl named Yvaine (Claire Danes).

	From the moment I saw the movie trailers in one of my rare outings to the theater, I had decided that Stardust was going to be another thrown together copycat movie attempting to ride on the coattails of the 'Pirates' whirlwind. (more) From the moment I saw the movie trailers in one of my rare outings to the theater, I had decided that Stardust was going to be another thrown together copycat movie attempting to ride on the coattails of the 'Pirates' whirlwind. At this point in the theater as I was anxiously awaiting the start of Ratatouille and was more concerned at the salt to butter ratio of my popcorn than I was interested in the Stardust previews. Fast forward these few months later, add another dash of lack of enthusiasm even in spite of my fortune of getting my hands on a copy of this movie a day prior to it's release. To most aptly sum up my feelings after watching this film.. in a nutshell... I was wrong. Stardust has solid acting performances, is well constructed (albeit a little overambitious at times) and is thoroughly entertaining on all levels. It's a traditional yet gently amusing journey, spectacular, adventurous, and romantic all rolled into one. While the filmmakers handle some of the characters and action tongue in cheek, they treat just as much or more of the film as a straight fairy tale, so you get to have your cake and eat it, too. Yes, it is also sprawling, biting off perhaps a bit more of its cake than it can chew, but the result is almost always engaging. I began smiling a few minutes into the picture, and I never stopped smiling until the rolling of the closing credits. I even forgot to make popcorn. (close)

I don't recall having seen Charlie Cox in any films prior to this and thought he gave an extremely genuine performance as the male lead in this film. The story, though a bit out there, was definitely engaging and I particularly like the tongue in cheek humor that the writers cleverly weaved in and out of the story throughout the length of... I don't recall having seen Charlie Cox in any films prior to this and thought he gave an extremely genuine performance as the male lead in this film. The story, though a bit out there, was definitely engaging and I particularly like the tongue in cheek humor that the writers cleverly weaved in and out of the story throughout the length of the film. Overall it is one of my favorite films and warrants multiple viewings to catch all the incredibly clever bits and pieces one might miss the first time around. 5/5 starts from me. (close)

Written and directed by Tim Skousen, who was assistant director on Napoleon Dynamite, there’s going to be inevitable parallels between the two movies. Both look at the awkwardness of childhood and both are absolutely hilarious. Still, even if you didn’t like Napoleon you might find something to enjoy here.

I Am Legend Movie Review
Will Smith’s portrayal of a man obsessed with finding a way to reverse the effects of the disease is the finest thing about this movie. Smith brings a vulnerability and craziness to Neville whose battle with loneliness and depression is a constant spiral downwards. This is no alien kicking, gung-ho, in your face performance and the change of pace is rewarding to watch.

Speed Racer Movie Review
Directed by the Wachowski brothers, (the Matrix), the film has a truly unique look and feel to it - one that may not work for all viewers, but I found it very cool to watch. The racing scenes are thrilling, and you want to stand up and cheer for Speed in the final race. The fight scenes are fun to watch, but you really need to suspend your disbelief before walking into the theater.

I gave it a chance anyhow: one, because I’m a sucker for teenage pregnancy movies (what can I say – I can get sucked into those Lifetime movies too, I’m not made of stone!) and two, because I wanted to see more of Ellen Page.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall Movie Review
Segel takes on multiple duties in this movie. Not only does he star, but also wrote the script, some of which was taken from real life experiences. Now I don’t know if these experiences were as funny when they happened to Segel, but he had me laughing until I cried at some of the things that happened to his poor character. He makes the audience really feel for Peter’s character and everyone will be rooting for him by the end of the movie.
