In the heart of the remote Carpathian mountains of Romania, four graduate students begin a journey of historical discovery. But one of them bears a secret which will unleash a force of unparralled evil upon them – an evil that will take the lives, and which will change the survivors forever...

In Bucharest, professor Adrian Craciun (BILLY ZANE, Titanic, The Phantom) and University Dean Hyman Radescu (BRAD DOURIF, Lord of the Rings, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) learn that one of four international graduate students about to enter Romania on a special study program may be bringing with her an ancient artifact which could trigger a violent schism in a secret society of which they are both members.

The graduate students include Americans Jeff Meyer (PAUL POPOVICH, Children of the Corn 666, Vampires Anonymous); Justin Whitely (NICHOLAS IRONS, Soul Assassin, TV's The American Embassy); and Linsey Constantin (top Romanian star MONICA DAVIDESCU), a native of the Carpathians who now studies in Paris. The four are serious scholars...but they're human, too, and by the time they reach Bucharest an attraction has developed between Jeff and Linsey, while the gawky Justin's efforts to cultivate a similar closeness with Alexa have failed miserably. On their first night in Bucharest, while walking back to their hotel, Linsey is almost run down by a car. Then upon arrival back at the hotel finds that her room has been ransacked. Later that night, alone, she removes the artifact, a 15th century necklace. None of the others know she has the necklace. She puts it away, but not before she experiences a terrifying inner vision in which she sees 15th century necklace. None of the others know she has the necklace. She puts it away, but not before she experiences a terrifying inner vision in which she sees 15th century horses dashing through a forest, and a child dropped upon the forest floor. The vision is so real that she becomes disoriented. Then she experiences a second vision a the home of reclusive scholar Mircea Raveneau (EMIL HOSTINE), she becomes frightened and hides the necklace in Jeff's backpack. The next morning the group begins a two-day 50 mile hike through the forest and mountains to a little known and inaccessible set of crumbling ruins at Poenari, a fortress built by the historical Vlad. That night, camping in the forest, it is Jeff who experiences a vision - a dream in which he witnesses a battle scene of Ottoman Turks attacking a Wallachian caravan. In the dream, a beautiful young woman, about to be captured by a menacing knight, turns to Jeff for help just as he awakens. Disoriented, he goes back to sleep but when he awakens later in the gray stillness before dawn, he sees a shadowy figure nearby. Gradually, hardly believing what he sees, he realizes it is the young woman from his dream, Ilona, (IVA HASPERGER, Malevolent, and TV's General Hospital). She is terrified and a sword is plunged in the earth in front of her, and it bears the symbol or Order Draconis...the same symbol borne by the bracelet. The group finds it very difficult to believe that this could be anything more than a hoax, but the woman's language, the sword, and the absence of any other explanation lead them to abort their plan and take the girl to the nearest doctor. But the incursions from the past are not over...for the next night the girl's pursuer also appears, and when it becomes apparent that, miraculously, the pursuer is none other than Vlad Drakul (FRANCESCO QUINN, Platoon) himself, the final race for survival and understanding is on...

Financial Crisis Hits Movies

Well before the global financial crisis came to a head in recent weeks, market conditions had been brutal for financing movies. Panelists ticked off a litany of problems that are seeing outside investment dry up, including piracy, increasing debt and a supply-demand imbalance between films and distribution.

Vantage Point Movie Review

Although the whole idea of this movie is to focus on each main character and show the terrorists' attack from different viewpoints, it doesn't hide the fact that the story just isn't that exciting. If this had been shot in a conventional sequential manner it would have been a standard run-of-the-mill thriller.

The Other Boleyn Girl Movie Review

I had been excited to see The Other Boleyn Girl ever since I heard that the movie was being made. I loved the Philippa Gregory novel the movie was based on and I am also very interested in the Boleyns’ history so I knew I had to see this movie! Sadly, it did not live up to my high expectations.
