When we first meet Fish, he and his bandmates from Vesuvius are in full '80s glory - knocking out headbanging songs and sporting big hair, scarves, and impossibly tight leather pants. Just as Vesuvius is about to break big, Fish is tossed out of the band. Flash-forward twenty years: the ex-drummer extraordinaire, who lived, ate, breathed, slept - and most of all, sweated - rock n' roll, works for an insurance company and is living with his sister, brother-in-law and nephew Matt.
In short, Fish is a broken man, stuck in a mid-life crisis. But when he learns that Matt's band, A.D.D. is searching for a new drummer, Fish volunteers - well, really, he begs - for a shot. Fish is over two decades older than his bandmates, yet somehow he completes A.D.D.: the brooding, hair-in-the-face singer Curtis; the stiff-as-a-board supernerd Matt; the ironic post-modern punk girl Amelia - and now the ancient rocker, Fish.
Spurred by Fish's habit of rehearsing in the buff (and hip new moniker "The Naked Drummer"), A.D.D. becomes an internet sensation. They hit the road for their first big tour - along with Curtis' mom, Kim, as a chaperon. But as Fish once again lives the rock and roll life he thought was almost a birthright, he begins a journey that will take him to a place even he never thought possible: adulthood.

Ignorant, bumbling and blissfully unaware of his own lack of talent, Pete sprinkles his documentary narrations with dubious factoids.
When the ratings sink to an all-time low and the show is about to be cancelled, Pete and his filmmaking partner Fred Wolf realize they have to come up with "something big" to save the series. It looks like they've hit the jackpot when Pete lucks into a map of the legendary Bigfoot's secret cave. But when the clueless producer leads his ragtag crew to the wilds of Central America to film the elusive beast, they encounter a string of disasters.
Desperate for a stunt to drive "Strange Wilderness" ratings back up and salvage the show, Pete brainstorms with his motley crew. Their luck seems to take a turn for the better when Pete gets a visit from his father's backwoods survivalist friend Bill Calhoun, who offers to sell him a map to Bigfoot's jungle hideout. Convinced this is the big break they've been waiting for, Pete and Fred hire two new crewmembers, Bill Whitaker and Cheryl, and set off for Ecuador in their dilapidated RV.
From the start, however, the ambitious expedition is beset with disasters. Along the way, the hapless crew will have to survive near-death encounters with overzealous border guards, an amorous turkey, flesh-eating fish, murderous natives and a host of other obstacles that more than live up to the name "Strange Wilderness."

Gurwitch began researching and traveling the country, interviewing people as diverse as Tim Allen, Sarah Silverman, Jeff Garlin, Anne Meara, David Cross and GM workers in Lansing, Michigan whose perspectives ranged from the tragically comedic to proving that old adage when one door closes another door opens, to the just plain tragic. Annabelle attended job fairs, received “outplacement services”, interviewed human resource directors, downsizers, and the downsized who were seeking new jobs.
Fired! reminds us that her that all great success come out of failure and being fired can be a part of the growth process, that humor helps, and that if you’re employed in America today your firing may be the best and the worst thing that can happen in your working life.
